The Kindy program at Treehouse Early Learning Centre in Hillcrest, SA is for children aged 3 to 4 years. Our program aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and adheres to the same curriculum requirements and quality standards as a stand-alone Department for Education kindergarten, including a qualified Early Childhood Teacher to plan and deliver each kindergarten session.
Three to four is a remarkable age. Your child is forming opinions, building real friendships, asking questions with genuine intent, and beginning to see themselves as someone who learns, creates, and contributes.
The Kindy room at Treehouse is designed as an invitation. Materials are arranged to spark curiosity, encourage experimentation, and support the kind of deep thinking that happens when children are genuinely engaged in something that matters to them. Educators do not direct the learning; they follow it.

What does a day in the Kindy Room look like?
The Kindy room at Treehouse begins each morning with purposeful provocations already set up. Children arrive, choose their initial activity, and the day begins on their terms.
Project work is a central feature of the Kindy program. When a group of children becomes deeply interested in something, educators follow that interest into a sustained investigation. Projects unfold over days or weeks, with documentation displayed in the room for children and families to revisit.
Literacy and numeracy are never isolated subjects. Letter recognition, phonemic awareness, early writing, counting, measuring, and patterning emerge through play, projects, and daily routines.
The Xplor Home app delivers daily photos and observations. You will see your child's face mid-concentration during a project, and watch a video of a moment you would otherwise have missed.
A Day at a Glance:
8:00am: Morning arrival. The Kindy room is already buzzing. Yesterday's clay project is set out on the tables; children who arrive early pick up exactly where they left off.
9:30am: Group provocation. An educator brings out a collection of seeds, magnifying glasses, and paper. Children observe, draw what they see, and discuss where seeds come from. Someone says they want to plant one. By tomorrow, there will be a pot in the outdoor area.
11:00am: Outdoor time. A group is building a roadway in the sandpit. Two children are having a serious conversation about clouds. An educator is documenting observations quietly.
12:30pm: Lunch. The centre provides a nutritious meal. Conversation at the table is as important as the food. Educators sit with the children, talking about the morning, asking questions, listening.
Afternoon: A story, a rest, and then more free play indoors or out. At pick-up, your educator greets you with something specific: a moment from the day, a question your child asked, something worth carrying home.

Morning Tea:

Outdoor Exploration:
Extended outdoor play including playgrounds, sandpit, and garden projects. Sun protection provided.
Lunch:

Rest and Quiet Time:
Rest for those who need it. Quiet activities for active children.
Afternoon Program:
Art, construction, dramatic play, small group literacy or numeracy activities, and further outdoor time.

Enrolment Requirements
What do I need to enrol my child in the Kindy program?
Enrolment at Treehouse is straightforward. The team is here to guide you through every step.
Age:
Your child must be aged 3 years at the time of entering the Kindy room. Transition from Toddlers is based on developmental readiness, in discussion with educators.
Immunisation:
Current immunisation records required, including the 4-year update at 4 years 2 months to 4 years 8 months as per NQF requirements.
Enrolment Form:
Complete the online enrolment form at treehouse-childcare.com.au capturing your child's interests, medical history, cultural background, dietary needs, and emergency contacts.
Orientation Visit:
A pre-start orientation visit is arranged for all new families to meet educators and explore the Kindy room and outdoor areas.
What to Bring:
The centre provides all meals, nappies if required, drinks, and sunscreen. Please bring a spare change of clothes, any comfort items, and a labelled hat.
Transition from Toddlers:
If your child is transitioning from the Treehouse Toddler room, educators coordinate a supported transition to the Kindy room with you and your child.
Child Care Subsidy:
Eligible families can access the Child Care Subsidy. Apply via MyGov or contact Centrelink on 13 61 50.
Notice Period:
Four weeks written notice required for any changes to or cancellation of enrolment.
